Club Information

The Boise Area Radio Kontrol Society (B.A.R.K.S.) is a nonprofit radio control (RC) model airplane club open to the public. Several BARKS members fly model helicopters. BARKS flying field is located off of Kuna Mora Rd. south east of Boise, ID. BARKS holds general Club Meetings on the third Thursday of each month. Meetings begin promptly at 7:30 PM at the Idaho Pizza Company restaurant located at 7100 W. Fairview, Boise. Contact a Club Officer for additional information. Note: No meeting is held during December. In Lieu of the annual BARKS Christmas Party.

BARKS maintains a 40-acre flying field site with a 700 foot long by 48 foot wide paved runway. The site is located off Kuna Mora Road Southeast of Boise. The general public is welcome to visit the flying field when the gate is unlocked (i.e. when a member is at the flying field).

BARKS provides free pilot training to members . Introductory lessons are available on a case by case basis to prospective members. Instruction is highly recommended for both safety and expense reasons (i.e. fewer crashes).

BARKS holds informal Model Airplane flying events, called Fun-Flys, during the weekend following the monthly meeting - Weather permitting. A typical Fun-Fly is FUN - excitement, camaraderie - for visitors and participants alike. Typical events include a bomb drop (closest to target wins), quick take off and landings (number of times a pilot can take off and land within 2 minutes) and gliding (how long a plane can glide with engine off or at idle). The Public is encouraged to attend any and all BARKS Events .

Annual events for B.A.R.K.S. include SeptemberFest picnic, (February) Swap Meet and (December) Christmas Party.
